If You Argue For Your Limitations Then They Are Yours

Take a moment to consider that your reality is shaped by what you believe to be true for you. You have the things in your life because on some level you believed they were a possibility for you and then you consciously (and unconsciously) took actions to manifest them into your reality.

I’m sure there are also things that you would like in your life that aren’t present (yet) and you’ll have lots of very “good reasons” why you don’t have them. Have you ever caught yourself saying something along the lines of “I would have…..could have…..should have….if it wasn’t for X.” X being the “good reason” or all too often, a self imposed, limitation that prevents you getting where you want to be.

The truth is a lot of people will use a great deal of energy arguing for their limitations, “I don’t have time” or “I can’t have a relationship” or “no one accepts me” or “I can’t do it” or “it’s always been that way” or “I’ll never to be to…” In fact there are heaps of other self defeating or negative statements I could add in here, but you get the idea!

Remember this, your mind is INCREDIBLY powerful. So if you decide that something is out of reach, you will absolutely make it true for you. You will language it as being impossible and then you will (probably unconsciously) set about finding all the ways possible to prove that you are right.

I had a student who said to me, “I’d love to come to that training but I don’t have enough time this year.”  The truth is, that if you believe that to be “real” then what’s going to be different about next year, or the year after, it’s unlikely that time is going to suddenly change and there’s going to be more hours in the day. If it’s important to you, if it is of value to you, then you will make the time to attend.

Become aware of your language, what are you saying to yourself and to other people. When you catch yourself arguing for a limitation – then STOP, because it’s a habit that you can change. Start looking for and languaging what is possible instead and create a positive, brighter and happier reality for yourself.
By the way, in the end, the student did make the time to come to the training and was very pleased she did!
